Design Discussion: Beautiful Bars

We all know that bars provide a home for our spirits and delicate glassware. But they can also add so much to a space when they are well-designed with careful intention. Whether you want to complement surrounding spaces or highlight it as a stand-out piece, a bar is an excellent opportunity to add color, texture, mixed finishes, and new materials while creating something functional and beautiful. Here, we cover some of our favorite custom bar projects and reflect on what makes these beautiful bars special.

Vintage Sophistication

Why we love it:  Part of a historical home renovation, this loft bar features carefully selected elements that transform a modest space into an eye-catching corner of the home while paying homage to the home’s rich history. Dark stained walnut cabinetry is beautifully contrasted with copper counter tops that will patina with time, creating a storied, antique look. Smoky painted mirrored glass panels impart a vintage touch to the front of the bar and echo tones of the copper and walnut cabinetry.

Contemporary Chic

Why we love it:  This luxurious Hamptons solarium bar checks off all our boxes for a must-have contemporary piece. Crafted with expansive cabinetry, it offers plenty of space for storing glassware, spirits and other accoutrements behind eye-catching custom stained rift cut white oak cabinetry, creating an uncluttered, seamless aesthetic.  The cabinetry is contrasted with a glossy black stone counter top and matte black hardware. Don’t forget ample under-counter refrigeration for keeping your drinks chilled perfectly without having to cramp up your kitchen refrigerator. This bar is both beautiful and functional, and serves as an eye-catching piece in any space.

Why we love it:  There isn’t one thing about this elegant bar we don’t love! Cool glossy blue painted cabinets are perfectly complemented with warm satin brass pulls and conceal under-counter wine refrigeration and an ice maker. A sleek mirrored back splash provides a feeling of spaciousness, while under-lit open glass shelves with satin brass detailing offer a glamorous focal point to showcase fine spirits. An exquisite onyx natural stone counter top and hammered steel sink add some incredible texture and visual interest to the bar. Quality materials come together with complementary tones and textures to create an eye-catching, colorful, and luxurious custom piece.

Transitional cabinets are painted a deep, bold gray, finished with high gloss for a shimmering, glamorous look that is contrasted by a soft, classic marble counter top. Satin brass pulls add a perfectly measured touch of warmth, while brass stanchion open shelving keeps this bar airy and elegant with plenty of display space for decor, glassware, or spirits. A stunning brass patterned marble back splash ties the tones of cabinetry and hardware together for a well-balanced blend of hues and finishes.
